This truly magnificent Vintage (1922) Sunbeam Wedding Landaulette must be the most wonderful wedding carriage in the South of England. It is very large (12ft wheelbase) and has enormous windows from which the bride can see out and more importantly, from which she can be seen. The car has been completely overhauled during recent years, and has still done less than 40,000 miles since it was new nearly 80 years ago.
It is finished in deep cream to the body with rich black paint to the wings. Inside all the seats are covered with buttoned burgundy leather with rose and cream tapestry trim, and the car seats up to five people in the large rear covered compartment, whilst the chauffeur and possibly one other passenger are in the front open compartment. The rear compartment can also be opened in a few seconds to make the occupants even more visible, yet they remain completely draught free. Therefore the carriage has all the advantages of an open car, (which has none should it be raining), and all the advantages of a closed car, (which has few if it is fine).
There is a speaking tube from the rear to the front compartment so that instruction can be communicated to the driver, and a delightful period touch is provided by the addition of a correctly fitted picnic basket to the rear.
Ribbons and bows are provided generally in matching cream & maroon, but any other colour can be provided should you wish to match or contrast with the bride’s dress.
Any number of journeys can be made, with perhaps mother and bridesmaids, or even grandparents or other important guests.
